Our programs and services reflect our mission to make a positive difference in the lives of area youth through professionally supported relationships with mentors and volunteers.
Community Program
An Adult mentor is matched with a child to spend time together within the community. Activities are approved by parents/guardians. The program serves children between the ages of 6-16, who live within Athens County. Children matched before the age of 16 can remain in the program until age 18.
Positive Partners Program
Children who are at risk or already involved with Juvenile Court are matched with adult mentors trained to meet their needs. This program serves children ages 10-14 years old, who live within Athens County.AMACHI Ohio Program - Mentoring Children of Promise
Children of incarcerated parents have an increase risk of 70% of someday becoming incarcerated themselves. AMACHI Ohio works to reduce this risk and guide these children in the right direction with the assistance of a mentor from the community. The period of a parent's incarceration is an excellent time for positive intervention for these children of promise. Just being a positive presence in these children's lives can impact their future choices. It is not the volunteer's job to fix problems and situations; it's an opportunity to help break the cycle of incarceration that plagues many families within our community.
School-Based Programs
We currently offer two School-Based Programs. Both programs provide the opportunity to be matched one-on-one with an elementary school student. The first program is for is for High School and Middle School aged mentors and the second is for adult mentors.
School-Based Programs - High School and Middle School Mentors
