Refer a Little

Having a Big Brother or Big Sister can be an enriching experience for a young person.  Youth development experts agree that, in addition to their parents, children need additional supportive, caring adults in their lives.

Big Brothers Big Sisters works closely with parents and guardians to match every child with the right Big.  Every potential volunteer is screened, and professionals in youth development support each match to ensure that the relationship will be safe and rewarding for everyone involved.

Bigs and Littles share everyday activities: playing sports, seeing movies, cooking, going over schoolwork, visiting museums, washing the car, taking walks, volunteering in their communities, or just hanging out together.  National research has shown that the shared experience between Bigs and Littles has a direct impact on young peoples’ lives.

A Big can help a child discover a world of possibilities and opportunities simply by being a friend.

We hope soon to have an on-line form for you to be able to enroll your child in a program through BBBS of Athens County. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us at the address and phone # below or e-mail us at mentor_bbbs@yahoo.com. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please use the submission form on the Volunteer page. Thank you!  We look forward to hearing from you.
